I look out at a rather white lawn today and yes winter has well and truly arrived. I am always sad to see the vegetable garden go into hibernation. Mind you it deserves a rest after producing a wonderful summer of fruit and vegetables. My pantry is stocked with plenty of varieties of relish and sauces.
I have started planting my small orchard and have decided I will accommodate a small chook house and a winter raised vegetable garden in here as well. The chook house is purchased and needs assembling and the vegetable garden I just decided on yesterday…so work in progress. My summer vegetable garden is perfect for summer but lacks sun in the winter thus the reason for putting in the raised bed for a good crop of brassicas over the winter. Great to have for stir fry’s etc.
This weekends class is soup and breads. Two of my favourite soups, Kumara and chilli and the French classic Vichyssoise (leek and potato ) Breads that I will be making are wholemeal baps, no knead baguettes and beer bread. Still some spare spaces if interested. Check out classes on my website.
